Youth Ministry

All your children shall be taught by the LORD, and great shall be the peace of your children.
— Isaiah 54:13

RCCC Youth Ministry is a safe space for all young people to be who God made them to be.  We provide many opportunities for our youth to grow in their faith and deepen their relationship with God and with each other.

The youth program is designed for 6th-12th graders.

Chi Rho is a denominational name for our 6th-8th grade youth.

CYF is a denominational name for our 9th-12th grade youth.

Youth is the word we use in communications for both groups combined.

Education

Youth meet in the Friend Center on Sunday mornings at 9:45 for Sunday School.  Our class is led by adult volunteers and our Youth Director.  It is interactive and conversational in style.

After Sunday School, youth attend worship together or with their families in the sanctuary.

At least once a year our youth lead us in worship in what we call Youth Sunday.  They plan and implement every part of the service from greeting, music, preaching, and presiding at the Lord’s Supper to cleanup.

Youth Retreats and Summer Camp

We participate in our denomination’s outdoor ministry program at Disciples Crossing Camp in Athens.  Our youth and adult volunteers attend several events a year at Disciples Crossing.  At camp and retreats, youth are invited to worship, play, learn, and pray together with other young people from across North Texas.

Missions

Our Chi Rho and CYF groups participate in summer mission trips each summer.  Past mission sites have included Denver, Washington, D.C., Disciples Crossing Camp, Austin, and more.  Youth and their adult leaders spend a week getting out of their comfort zones and serving God by serving others.  Volunteer work has included disaster relief and recovery, homeless outreach, and inner-city youth programs, just to name a few.  In addition to hands-on work, the groups are educated about the larger issues that cause the need for this work.  They also have some fun along the way by sightseeing and playing together in a new city.

Fellowship

Youth Group

September to May, 6th to 12th grade

12:00 to 2:00 on Sundays (lunch is provided)

Youth group is a mix of activities to meet a variety of goals, including: games, team building challenges, leadership development, outings, spiritual practices, and a monthly mission project.  We end each meeting with prayer and sharing of highs and lows from the week.

CYF Stress Free Wednesdays

September to May, 9th to 12th grade

6:00-8:00 pm

CYF Stress Free Wednesday is a chance for high school students to decompress during the school year through conversation, games, and a short devotional.  It is intentionally less programmed to give youth a chance for downtime during the hectic months of the school year.

Summer Fun

RCCC organizes monthly summer fellowship events like paint wars, water kickball, Lake Day, board game nights, and more.

Chi Rho Crash – midweek meetings for games and off-site activities just for our middle school students.  Incoming 6th graders are invited to join us for Chi Rho Crash.

CYF Night – midweek fellowship for our high school students that is a mix of on and offsite.
