What to Expect on Sunday
Worship Style
Our worship style has been described by some as “traditional lite”. We have moments of reverence and laughter. We mostly sing out of a hymnal but also sing contemporary praise songs from time to time. Our singing is accompanied by our very skilled pianist. About once a month, other members use their gifts to add variety to our music ministry. Some play band or orchestra instruments during a time when special music is called for. Some sing and play guitar. Others sing a capella.
What Do People Wear?
A few people wear their “Sunday best” (suits/dresses). Most others tend to wear jeans or even shorts. Our ministers and staff wear business casual clothing or clergy robes.
What Do the Kids Do?
Jesus didn’t say “children should be seen and not heard”. He said, “let the little children come to me”. Rush Creek is a place where kids are welcome and valued. If they get a little noisy or wiggly, that’s fine with us. Babies, toddlers and preschools can attend the nursery if desired. Older kids are present in worship for the beginning and end of the service. During the prayer and sermon time, children 3rd grade and younger have the option of going to children’s church in another room. Fourth grade and up remain in the Sanctuary.
Leadership
During worship you will hear many voices. Our ministers, staff, and lay leaders all participate in weekly worship leadership. Men and women share equal leadership at Rush Creek.
Prayer Time and Silence in Worship
Toward the beginning of our service, we have a time of sharing joys and concerns that need to be lifted up in prayer. We also have a brief period of silence during our prayer time to allow our congregation a moment of stillness and quiet in the midst of a busy and loud world.
Communion
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper each week. We are A House of Prayer for All People, therefore an open communion church. All followers of Jesus are welcome to partake of the bread and the cup in remembrance of Jesus’ last meal with his Disciples, regardless of denominational affiliation.
Handicap Accessibility
We have handicap accessible restrooms, classrooms and meeting areas. Our sanctuary has several cut-outs in our pew rows for wheelchairs and walkers. Our livestream video is captioned for the hearing impaired via YouTube.
Meet the Pastors
Reverend Tiff Williams
Tiff grew up in the small farming community of Bloomfield, Iowa where her family roots run deep and her call to ministry began. After high school and a year of college in Iowa, she transferred to Texas Christian University to pursue a career in ministry. Tiff graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from TCU in 2005 and a Masters of Divinity from Brite Divinity School at TCU in 2009. She is an ordained minister in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).
Tiff’s first 20 years in ministry were spent in youth, associate, and outdoor ministry. Before coming to Rush Creek, Tiff served as the Associate Regional Minister of the Christian Church in the Upper Midwest and the Camp Director of the Christian Conference Center, the region’s summer camp and spiritual retreat center. Before that she was on staff at Disciples Crossing Camp, First Christian Church of Granbury, and University Christian Church of Fort Worth. Tiff and her family took the leap to Rush Creek because they felt a calling from God to help RCCC grow and thrive.
Tiff is married to Daryn and they have 2 children, and a big dog who thinks she’s a lap dog. The Williams family loves to cheer on the Horned Frogs and explore God’s creation together.
Reverend Mason Wagner
Mason Wagner is a Texas native and grew up in the Mid-Cities area of DFW. Mason graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion and Communication from TCU in 2018. He completed a Master of Divinity from Brite Divinity School at TCU in 2022.
Before coming to RCCC, Mason served as the Senior Minister of Northwest Christian Church of Arlington. During that time, Mason helped shepherd the church through selling their building, relocating, and closing its doors. In ministry, he is passionate about adult education, outreach, and pastoral care. Mason has also held student ministry positions at two other Disciples of Christ congregations and one non-profit agency.
Mason is a lifelong member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and is in the ordination process of the Christian Church in the Southwest. His goal is to become an ordained minister and serve in congregational ministry. RCCC is sponsoring Mason for ordination.
