Rush Creek Christian Church began in the April of 1978. The initial group of people gathered and worshiped at Key Elementary School until they were able to move to a permanent site. Rev. Dr. Dick Lord was called as the founding pastor in that initial year. Rev. Dr. Lord served until the spring of 2006 and completed a 28 year ministry at Rush Creek. Rev. Max Jones served for one year at Rush Creek as an interim minister. Rev. Dr. Christopher Wilson was called in the spring of 2007 and remains as the current senior minister of the church.

The church moved to its current location in 1980 and built a multipurpose space that allowed for worship, study, fellowship, and office space. An education wing with classes and education space was added in 1984. The church later was able to conduct a financial campaign to build its permanent sanctuary space also adding a music room, study, and offices in 1996. The last phase of construction was completed in 2009. It was a family life center that allowed for larger events and programs for the church and community.

Rush Creek has a long history of serving families in the community with a preschool program. This ministry started as a Mothers Day Out program and has now grown into a licensed preschool program called Rush Creek Christian Academy that is a three day program Tuesday through Thursday. The Academy is celebrating 30 years of caring for children in 2014. The Academy has created a reputation for care and nurture of children in southwest Arlington.

Other significant qualities of Rush Creek has been the rich gifts in music with its musical talent that is exhibited in worship each week. We also have a strong love for children and youth throughout the church’s ministry. Finally, the church has a strong witness of outreach to many of the local programs and needs of Arlington.
