Mission of the Month Offering (August)

 Arlington Life Shelter

  • Mission of the Life Shelter The Arlington Life Shelter provides shelter and support services to help our neighbors who are homeless integrate into society and become self-sufficient, thriving contributors to the community.

What Sets the Life Shelter Apart The Arlington Life Shelter is the only shelter in the DFW area with a work requirement for residents receiving more than emergency shelter. In 2012, the shelter served 800+ homeless men, women and children with an average length of stay of 9 weeks. Remarkably, 80% of program participants are currently employed in full-time positions

  • The primary offering will be in worship on Sunday August 5, but you may give any time this month to support our mission of the month.  Simply mark your gifts as a August Mission of the Month.

Hands-On Mission Opportunities

Arlington Life Shelter

Rush Creek is set to prepare and serve food on Saturday August 4.  We will be preparing lunches at the church that Saturday at 3:00pm in the Family Life Center.  People will be asked to prepare food for the dinner that night.  We will also need people to serve the dinner at the shelter on Saturday night.  Please contact Karen Meachum if you can help with this important ministry to those in need right here in Arlington.  This is a great way to serve those in Arlington in need of food.

Foster Elementary School Supply Drive

Each year we collect school supplies for Foster Elementary School.  There are many families in the school that struggle to buy supplies.  Our supplies provide needed hope and practical gifts that encourage learning and support at the school.  We will collect school supplies through August 19 and deliver the supplies the first week of school.  The school supply list for Foster Elementary is included with this newsletter.  Any supplies you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Meals on WheelsMeals on Wheels

  • Each week members of our church deliver Meals on Wheels on Tuesday and Thursday mornings.  It is a great way to care for families in our own back yard of Arlington, TX.
  • Our church delivers on both days and has a pool of people that rotate delivering the meals.  You may contact Jo Carolyn McVeigh if you are interested in helping with this ongoing ministry of Rush Creek.
